What is silk screen printing on rapid prototype

Many people may have heard of silk screen process, but most of them do not know what it is, in fact, silk screen is very simple. We will introduce for you in the following:

Using photosensitive plate making method,the silk mesh is made into screen printing plate with pattern.The screen printing can be carried out by using the basic principle that part of the screen can penetrate the ink, and part of the screen can not penetrate the ink. When printing, the ink is poured into one end of the screen plate, and a scraper is used to exert a certain pressure on the ink and moves uniformly toward the other end of the screen plate.The ink is squeezed from the part with pattern on the mesh to the substrate while moving by the scraper.

Silk screening consist of five major elements: screen printing plate, scraper, ink, printing table and printed material.
And it has some advantages as below:
1 Not limited by the size and shape of printed material in rapid prototyping.
2 Generally printing, can only be performed on a flat surface, but things with a shape can be silk screen printed.
3 The printed plate is soft and small printing pressure; silk is soft and flexible, too.
4 Strong ink coverage can be used for pure white printing on all black paper with strong three-dimensional effect.
5 Strong adhesion. Applicable to all types of inks, flexible printing methods.
6 Strong optical rotation resistance can keep the gloss of printed matter, suitable for long-term display, such as advertising board
7 Printed plate is easy to be made, cheap price, easy to master technology.
